You may first want to familiarise yourself with Diamond Colour & Clarity in our full guide
G/SI
This is our most common and popular grade supplied with most 18k gold and platinum pieces. G refers to the diamond colour, this is a high colour grade which is classed as near colourless: colour tint is not easily noticeable to the naked eye. SI refers to the clarity of the diamond which stands for slightly included. These diamonds have small inclusions that can be spotted under magnification and very difficult to see with the naked eye. In short this grade is ideal for getting the most for your money whilst still being discerning on quality.
The numbers 1 or 2 can also be placed at the end of diamond grades, this helps further categorise the better stones of a clarity group, 1 is a slightly higher grade than 2. if no number is shown in the diamond grade, this generally means that the piece is supplied with a mix of both.
Colour: H-J (Near Colourless), Clarity: I1-I2 (Included)
(These diamonds are usually supplied in items which do not specify a particular grade)
These diamonds are a standard grade giving you the most or biggest diamonds for your money and are generally supplied in our 9k gold jewellery, higher grade diamonds as discussed above are more valuable. These diamonds are near colourless, colour tint is slight and can be difficult to see with the untrained eye. Inclusions in the diamond may be noticeable to the naked eye and take on a more cloudy appearance compared to higher clarity grades.
